The center is a non-profit and admission is alway free. We offer ticketed events and tours throughout the year to support new exhibits and history center programs. Provided below are upcoming events.

Clocktower Tours
April - September, First Saturday
1-3 pm
Climb the 107 steps to the top of the tower for the best views and selfies in Rome. View the interior tower murals that depict Rome's history.

Downtown History Tours
April - September, First Saturday
10 am - 11 am
Jump aboard the Roman Chariots as we drive you on this guided tour. Each downtown tour is unique, where groups are led through Rome’s historic downtown to discover its history, beauty, and secrets.

Haunted Trolley Tours
June 16th, 2023
7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m.
Join us if you dare aboard the Roman Rose Trolley as your docent from the dead spins harrowing tales of misfortune, death, and mayhem. Hear accounts of former residents who can still be seen in numerous locations around the city, continuing to live their lives as if we did not exist. You never know who is sitting with or standing beside you as the darkness of the night falls, for this is still their city, even in death.
We will be joined by members of the S.P.I. Crew (Southern Paranormal Investigators) will share spine-tingling evidence from some of their recent and past investigations in Rome’s most haunted downtown locations. You might even catch a spirit from the past in the photos that you take!
The stories you’ll hear come from years of research, personal accounts, and real-life experiences. It’s the perfect combination of history mixed with haunted tales.

Hallowed Hauntings

8:30 pm show: Enter at Your Own Risk! Stories for ages 12 and up only - due to subject matter.

Haunted on Broad Walking Tours
October 20,21,27 and 28 2023
7, 7:30, 8, 8:30, and 9 pm
This event was recognized by Northwest Georgia's Historic High Country Travel Association as the "Best Event" in 2019!
On this tour, you'll hear bone-chilling tales shared by the Ridge and Valley Storytelling Guild, and while you're on the tour, look closely; you may get to see some famous ghostly visitors from the dark side of Rome's past. Members of the Southern Paranormal Investigators will also be on hand at a select location to share their findings from an all-new investigation in downtown Rome. All of this begs the question, are you ever truly alone?

The Victorian Christmas Trolley Tour
Friday December 15th, 2023
6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm
Join us for a trip back in time with A Victorian Christmas Trolley Tour of historic downtown Rome!
Discover the incredible beauty of the Between the Rivers Historic District all decked out for the Christmas season.
Hear curious bits of local holiday lore and history from the warmth of the Roman Rose Trolley while you enjoy the beautiful decorations adorning the historic homes along our route. A costumed guide will be on board to share local history and answer questions but be prepared for special steps on visitors from the past. You never know who will visit us from Rome’s gilded age.
Trolley tours will depart from the front of the Rome Area History Center located at 305 Broad Street in downtown Rome at 6 pm, 7 pm, and 8 pm.
Proceeds benefit the continuing efforts of the Rome Area History Center to preserve Rome's past and provide educational programs to help showcase our area’s wonderful history. Tickets are $25 per person with a capacity of 28 per time frame.
